Steatite Embedded offer a range of unique solutions ideal for use in digital signage applications, including fanless systems capable of 1080p HD video playback, large screen LCD displays with integrated PCs and low power embedded SBCs with onboard 1080p video decoders.

Digital signage media players
There are already many digital signage players on the market that are capable of 720p and 1080p video playback. However, most of these are based on power hungry and expensive dual/quad core CPUs which require active cooling and are reasonably expensive for what they do. The systems that we offer all use low power CPUs to minimize heat build up and therefore remove the need for active cooling, resulting in a more reliable end solution

In addition to fanless cooling, we recommend using solid state disks to remove another moving part from the system to further increase reliability. SSDs based on SLC flash offer good savings in terms of power consumption, while generally offering better read/write speeds and long life than traditional hard drives and CompactFlash cards. They also produce minimal heat, while being capable of operating over a wider temperature range.

Our media players are capable of playing 1080p video in various formats including MPEG2, H.264 and VC-1 and are also capable of displaying content written in Adobe Flash and Microsoft Silverlight with power consumption around the 15 to 20W mark.

Fanless embedded boards with 1080p decoders
We currently have both Mini-ITX and Pico-ITX fanless boards that are capable of 1080p video playback. Available with LVDS video output for direct connection to an open frame LCD, or VGA/DVI/HDMI to drive a traditional LCD/Plasma display. Once again, power consumption is kept below 20W and boards are of industrial quality for greater reliability in the field.

We can provide a complete solution including a custom Windows Embedded operating system for you integration with your screen and chassis.

Large format touchscreen LCDs with integrated PCs
In addition to our range of standard sized panel PCs, we can supply 26" and 42" panel PCs for use in digital advertising and point of information applications. Each is available with or without a touchscreen and are capable of paying back a full range of video formats and Abobe Flash and Microsoft Silverlight content. Based on industrial spec hardware, they offer unrivaled reliability to keep maintenance costs to a minimum
